Summary: Master of ceremony Born in 1949 in Maastricht, André Rieu is a violinist. Until 1987, he played in the Symphonic Orchestra of Limbourg before founding his own orchestra: the Johann Strauss Orchestra; clearly the name in and of itself leads to a full schedule. The waltz, a popular dance until it was improved upon by Venitian masters, is reinterpreted by André Rieu, in all forms, creating a successful genre of his own. With the flowing long hair of a romantic hero, André Rieu enchants crowds in order to make them discover his so cherished classic music. |
