Tour of the Museum of the Sea, Cannes |
Summary: Stories of the ageless ocean.
The Museum of the Sea was established in what used to be Roman cisterns and halls, now entirely renovated. Discover a scale model of the cisterns' hydraulic systems and the archaeology collections that include the staggering Emblema mosaic.
There is also a permanent exhibition which sheds light on the number of sunken ships around the Lérins islands. Discover the Roman Tradelière (1st century BC) and the Sarrazin du Batéguier (an Arabic ship dated to the 10th century).
The new layout of the museum denotes a focus on maritime transport and the organisation of cargo within ship hulls.
