Summary: A highly original kind of tribal metal. Max Cavalera, ex-member of Sepultura (the only Brazilian heavy-metal band to have gained an international reputation), has changed tack and takes the listener on a more personal adventure. Soulfly are more neo-metal, never hesitating to dip into other styles on their quest to add colour and substance to their meddley repertoire of hardcore, dub, reggae and r'n'b. The percussion lends their music a soul-jarring rhythm and definite tribal edge. |
