Summary: The folk revival. During the 80s, artists like Suzanne Vega and Tracy Chapman were responsible for a folk revival. Born in Cleveland, the young musician started singing in Boston clubs. Producers from SBK soon noticed this exceptionally talented singer and songwriter, and her first album Talkin' bout a Revolution appeared in 1988. Justice, equality, racism, women's rights and poverty are recurrent themes in her music. Her strikingly penetrating last album Let it Rain came out in 2002. |
