Summary: The heart of Nantes history! Aftr 15 years of work and three years of doors closed to the public, the Château of the Dukes of Bretagne is finally ready for its grand re-opening! The city of Nantes put together an exhaustive restoration program in order to give new life to this important historical site in the downtown! The restoration of this building from the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries, was also the occasion to create a new museum, labelled Museum of France and dedicated to the history of the site. More than 800 objects from the collection will be presented throughout a historically themed tour of 32 halls and over more than 5,000m². New multimedia installations, a new museum lay-out, and contemporary architecture allow the public complete access to the monument. Artistic, architectural and historic monument, the Château is a firsthand witness to the history of Nantes and Bretagne. |
