Summary: Africa meets Europe.
African Footprint is a compromise; it is a musical comedy that resides in the no man's land between a tribal, traditional, ancestral African culture and the more familiar Africa we see through an American lense.
The show is original and avant-garde, with 30 performers staging a fiery, frenetic and fascinating performance. The Afro-European blend can be felt in both music and dance. Bodies move in various styles: Kwela-Jive, gumboot, tap-dancing, contemporary ballet or pantsula hip-hop... The music crosses borders, with African percussions, saxophone and even an Irish penny whistle.
The show has definite depth as the song material is based on the work of Don Mattera, South-Africa's most renowned poet. Expect to be touched, moved, enthralled and entertained. This artistic gemstone will leave its mark carved deep into your heart.
