Summary: Over a hundred musicians... The Nice Philharmonic Orchestra was put together by the Nice municipality in 1945. Since the projects to restructure the orchestra in 1982, led by Pierre Médecin (director of the Nice Opera at the time), this major formation has built a solid reputation as one of the best in the field. The orchestra has taken part in some of the greatest opera festivals of the summer season: Chorégies d'Orange, Macerata, Montpellier-Radio France Festival Aix-en-Provence Festival. Also, in 1988, the orchestra's rendition of Wagner's Tetralogy was lauded by music critics worldwide. |
