Summary: Greek mythology's most romantic tragedy. Orpheus, that mythical figure of Greek mythology, is a singer and a lyre-player; his music enchants both men and women, trees, plants, and even the wildest of animals. Tragedy strikes when his wife Eurydice, while wandering through a prairie, is bitten by a venomous snake. Alone, she dies tragically... The torn musician sings his heart out with such fervour, such abandon that the Lords of the Underworld allow him to bring back his love, but on one condition: he must lead her to the gates of hell without turning around, seeing her or speaking to her... |
