In the 1870's, a journalist named Arthur Meyer came up with the idea of creating three-dimensional models of the characters who featured in his newspaper, Le Gaulois.
He enlisted the help of Alfred Grévin, a cartoonist, sculptor and theatre costume designer, and in June 1882 the most famous of Paris' private museums was created.
Today, the waxwork museum continues to immortalize national and international stars, with special attention paid to detail, costumes and sets in order to ensure that the models are as lifelike and authentic as possible.
Stroll through the hall of fame featuring statesmen, actors, singers, sports stars and many other illustrious figures. Great fun for kids and grown-ups.
