Summary: A monument to the trotting race
Originally intended as a show jumping venue, the Vincennes racecourse was built in 1863, only to be almost entirely destroyed in the war of 1870.
Rebuilt in 1879, it staged its first trotting races in the same year. The racecourse is today one of the most important venues for trotting races in the world.
Renovated and restored in 1976, the racecourse has become one of a modern and well-maintained venue, evidenced by its popularity with the public and professionals alike - last year 750 000 tickets were sold.
Besides the two tracks and inner and outer galleries, there is a giant screen and an inner video network, the first of its kind in Europe.
With places to eat and relax for 2000 visitors, this is one of the great monuments to trotting events!
