Summary: A partnership between France and 22 Arab countries. The IMA opened in December 1987 and aims to introduce the public to the history of Arab-Islamic civilisations from their origins right up to the present day. Syria and Tunisia were the first countries to support the project with the donation of 180 objects and works from the prehistoric period to the eighteenth century. The Institut du Monde Arabe offers exhibitions, film screenings, a library, conferences and partnership between France and 22 Arab countries. The Institut du Monde Arabe offers exhibitions, film screenings, a library, conferences and debates, youth activities and a restaurant on the top floor. Both cultural centre and meeting place, the IMA is a symbol of Arab-Islamic culture in the heart of Paris. |
