Summary: A paradise of plants and natural science
The Jardin des Plantes is spread out over 26 hectares in the heart of downtown Paris. By taking the promenade that opens at allée Buffon you'll see a statue of Georges Louis Leclerc, Count of Buffon, facing the evolution gallery. At the other end of the garden the protagonist is Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. Otherwise, a statue of Antoine Laurent de Jussieu welcomes visitors at the Gallery of Mineralogy and chemist Michel-Eugène Chevreul is situated near the Magny building.
This exceptional park often hosts expos whether at the actual botanical gardens, The Menagery or the various galleries (of geology, anatomy, paleontology and evolution).
