Summary: A typical open-air French market.
This open-air market is the opportunity for Parisians to buy seasonal fruits and vegetables grown in the surrounding countryside such as apples, tomatoes, carrots and potatoes or much further afield such as oranges, guavas, litchis and durians. Butchers and delicatessens offer a selection of fresh, cured and smoked meats. It is not uncommon to see farmers selling their produce directly.
Parisian markets are also a blend of local production and cosmopolitanism, different flavors and cultures. A great way to soak up some local colour.
