Located between two historic landmarks, the Roman Château Comtal and Saint Nazaire Gothic Basilica, the hotel is set in its own glorious gardens. Each of the 42 guestrooms and 19 suites are furnished and decorated in an aristocratic style.
With its solid stone walls, wood panelling and stained-glass windows, the hotel offers luxurious hospitality. Several of the rooms and suites have balconies and terraces, offering spectacular views of Carcassonne, the ramparts of the mediaeval Citadel, and the castle. Other rooms offer views of the narrow cobble-stone streets of the Citadel.
Enjoy swimming in the only heated pool in the citadel, horse riding, or golf at the nearby Carcassonne course. The reception desk can arrange day excursions, sightseeing and barge-cruises.
Transport
From Barcelona, highway a9, and then a61. Carcassonne Airport: conveniently located 10 minutes from Hôtel de la Cité. Flights on Ryanair to and from London-Stansted, Brussels-Charleroi, and Dublin- Ireland Airports. It is also possible for charter planes to fly to Carcassonne Airport. Toulouse-Blagnac Airport : Flights to and from all major European cities. Taxi fare from Toulouse-Blagnac to Carcassonne is approximately 190 Euros. Driving from Toulouse-Blagnac to Carcassonne: Located 100 km (65 miles) from Carcassonne, Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is easily accessible. On leaving Blagnac airport, take the motorway A61 in the direction of Montpellier/Carcassonne. As you approach Carcassonne, 2 exits are indicated. Take the second exit, Carcassonne Est (East Carcassonne). Follow the road signs for La Cité or Cité Médiévale. On reaching the Citadel, follow road signs indicating the access to the guarded car park for hotel guests, going by the walls of the old cemetery. (Please note that traffic is not permitted in the Citadel from 9am to 8pm from Easter to early November)- A hotel guest car park is located outside the city walls at no cost. A representative of the Hotel will welcome guests on that car park and will arrange their transportation to the hotel in our shuttle. The hotel is located in the heart of Medieval city, next to the Saint-Nazaire Basilica.
Restaurants
La Barbacane gastronomic reputation is firmly established. The restaurant is open from Thursday to Monday and it is located in the heart of the hotel. The neo-Gothic dining room features magnificent fireplaces, high ceilings and cathedral chairs.
You can also enjoy a relaxing and informal dinner al fresco, in the outdoor summer restaurant, le Jardin de l'Evêque. It is open daily from 1 June to 30 September.
The brasserie, Chez Saskia, is open daily for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Cancellation Terms
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
