as the largest and best freeride resort in the world, Chamonix has primarily been the land of the Winter Olympics in 1924! It is the largest resort in the ski area that includes five ski resorts, the four others being Les Grands Montets, Le Brévent - The Flegere, Le Tour / Domaine de Balme and Les Houches.
The lifts of the Chamonix valley open the gates to the high mountains throughout the year. There are infinite possibilities for skiers and snowboarders: slopes for all levels in various areas, slopes for beginners, large slopes, wilderness skiing, skiing in the forests, Vallée Blanche ...
The Domaine de Balme (1453m - 2270m) is ideal for children, beginners and intermediates that evolve on two distinct sides: Charamillon, which has large slopes, and Vallorcine, located along the Swiss border, which offers skiing among the pines.
Brévent - La Flégère (1030m - 2525m), facing south and the Mont-Blanc, is one of the most beautiful places in the Alps. You will find slopes for all.
The Domaine des Grands Montets (1235m-3300m) is the largest ski area in the valley. Its slopes are spread over three mountain sides: the Argentière glacier, Lognan and the Pendant. It enjoys exceptional snow until May. For surfers a snowpark and a boardercross are available.
The sister resort of Chamonix, Les Houches, is located on the opposite side of the valley, and is ideal, with its three areas in the valley, for children and beginners. Going to Les Houches is the opportunity to experience a varied skiing: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, telemark skiing ... Les Houches rises between 950 and 1900 meters high, and offers an exceptional panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc.
The Mont Blanc area is also known for its off-piste skiing and the Vallee Blanche. Accessible from the Aiguille du Midi, it offers a legendary 20 km descent. Hiring a guide is highly recommended.
