Loire Castles

The Loire Valley castles are the jewels of the Renaissance, during which the kings of France had made the Loire Valley their favorite residence, between the moment when Charles VII was forced to flee Paris fell to the Burgundians and the captivity of Francis 1st by Charles V at the end of the sixteenth century.
These castles were often built on old medieval castles.

These monuments are so remarkable and this historic heritage so extraordinary that the 280km long region Val de Loire, between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes-sur-Loire, a area of 800km2 was classified as World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
