Surrounding Area
Château des Vigiers is situated in south-west France, about an hour's drive east of Bordeaux in the Dordogne. The area is renowned for its outstanding beauty, history and cultural heritage, as well as its superior wines and culinary delights. It is the perfect base for exploring the medieval towns of Sarlat and the Périgord Noir to the east, the wine capital of Saint Emilion to the west, and also the world famous prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux and the Dordogne valley with its thousand châteaux.
We offer a tranquil, 'back to nature' setting, ideal for relaxation. The climate is temperate and the winters mild; Bordeaux is just a 2 hour drive from the Spanish border. Our multilingual staff are delighted to organise visits to sample the produce at the AOC vineyards of Bordeaux and Bergerac, or enjoy the many local markets, where you can buy local specialities such as truffles, cèpes, and foie gras.
All in all, this is definitely the place for golfers and non-golfers alike to unwind in a stress free, unspoilt and temperate environment. Interestingly, less than fifty percent of our guests actually play golf, so there is no need for non-golfers to feel left out. |
