Brissac Castle is located in the Val de Loire, in the territory of the commune of Brissac-Quincé. Historical Monument, Castle Brissac is located fifteen kilometers from Angers, Maine-et-Loire. The first things that strike the eye when entering the field of Brissac are the two fortified towers on both sides of the central building and the unusual height of this castle : with its seven floors, it is the tallest castle in France!

The original medieval castle was built in the 11th century by the Count of Anjou Foulques Nerra. In the 15th century, Pierre de Brézé, minister of King Charles VII, who bought the property had to rebuilt the castle, ruined by time. Later, during the reign of François 1st, the estate passes to the family of Cosse-Brissac, who still owns it. During the dark period of religious wars, the Château de Brissac is again attacked, this time by the armies of King Henry IV, and so severely damaged that it had to be almost fully restored in the 17th century.
Then come the hard times of the Revolution: as many residences of the nobility, the castle was requisitioned and ransacked. When the field was returned to the family of Cosse-Brissac, the castle was in a pitiful state. However, the family moved in, restored it gradually and each new generation continued to live there up to the 13th Duke of Brissac, who lives here now with his family.
The castle now known as "The Giant of the Loire" proudly dominates the Anjou countryside and arouses the admiration of visitors.

Brissac Castle can be visited indeed : the grand salon, with its18th century furniture and its majestic crystal chandeliers in the dining room where the table is compiled with all the refinement of the French table. On the first floor are the large gallery with its shimmering painted ceiling and the gallery of portraits and then the rooms with four-poster beds and walls covered with antique tapestries. However, Brissac has not yet revealed all its treasures. It remains to discover the charming Belle Epoque style theater, a jewel of this amazing castle marked by the imprint of centuries.

You can visit the park on foot, horseback or by bike, play golf, or even take a balloon ride. For children, the "Parc de l'Etang" offers varied activities such as ponies, trampolines, water slides and other exciting games.
