Sainte-Agnès : Sainte-Agnès Tourism

Bien peu de touristes peuvent imaginer que la fameuse ligne Maginot s'étendait jusqu'aux Alpes-Maritimes ! La construction du fort de Sainte-Agnès fait pourtant partie du même programme que les fortifications du Nord-Est de la France qui étaient censées protéger les frontières allemandes et belges. Il a été construit à la même époque, c'est-à-dire dans les années 30. Il était destiné à protéger la baie de Menton. Ses installations se trouvent dans un excellent état de conservation : casemates, batteries encore dotées de canons de 75 et 135, centrale électrique et casernement pouvant contenir et faire vivre durablement sous terre une garnison de 350 hommes.
