Le long de la D2202, la route offre un superbe point de vue sur le Var, qui gronde comme un torrent au fond de la gorge. La route en encorbellement, taillée dans le roc, coupée de nombreux tunnels, permet d'apprécier de nombreux points de vue impressionnants. Les roches des parois des gorges sont d’une teinte rouge-brun d’une grande beauté. Quelques parkings facilitent les haltes sans obstruer la circulation. Il est souhaitable de pouvoir s'arrêter chaque fois que possible pour admirer la profondeur des gorges. On trouve dans ces Gorges le fameux criquet "Oedipeus Germanica", doté d’une fonction mimétique qui lui permet de prendre la couleur de son environnement, il est donc couleur de rouille…
