La villa elle-même a été construite vers 1935 par un écrivain britannique, lady Fortescue. Depuis cette date, le jardin n'a cessé d'être enrichi par l'apport de multiples plantes (on en compte aujourd'hui plus de 500 espèces), en particulier des massifs de fleurs dont la floraison "tourne" en fonction des différentes saisons, de telle sorte qu'il y a toujours certaines zones du parc fleuries : par exemple, l'arbre de Judée au printemps, le lagerstrœmia et le laurier rose en été, le prunus subhirtella à l'automne et le viburnum en hiver.
