Draguignan : Draguignan Tourism

C'est en Août 1855 que plusieurs notables de Draguignan créèrent la Société d'études scientifiques et archéologiques de Draguignan. Cette « société savante avait pour but l'aide à la recherche culturelle, la publication d'ouvrages scientifiques, la protection du patrimoine et la gestion de la bibliothèque qu'ils avaient créée. Cette « société d'étude » existe toujours, cela fait d'elle l'une des plus anciennes association de la région.

De grands noms ont composés cette association au fil des années : Pierre Clément, Claude Gay, Frédéric Mireur, Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès, Jean Aicard, Frédéric Mireur ou encore Edmond Poupé.

Les découvertes effectuées lors des fouilles archéologiques de la Société d'études scientifiques et archéologiques de Draguignan sont présentées au Musée Municipal de la ville. De nombreux objets à caractère scientifique sont également présentés, ils se trouvent au Musée des Arts et des Traditions populaires de Draguignan.
