Description

On the heights of Charolles, the “Museum of Prieuré” welcomes you within the framework of the old priory of La Madeleine. Founded in the tenth century, the Cluniac priory has a Renaissance appearance because of the reshuffle that saw the end of the fifteenth century. Witness of this time: the beautiful chapter house (with his beam engoulée), is listed as an historic monument and renovated in 2003.



Come and see the richest collection of pottery Charolles, from 1844 to nowadays and the paintings of Jean Laronze (1852-1937), landscape of south of the Bourgogne. Do not miss the sculptures and models of earth flood made by René Davoine (1888-1962), exposed in the chapel.
