Waldersbach : Waldersbach Tourism

Les collections sont celles de Jean-Frédéric Oberlin, pasteur éclairé, pédagogue et encyclopédiste du XVIIIe siècle. Elles ne comportent pas de pièces majeures ou de chefs d'oeuvre mais leur constitution fut conforme à une conception nouvelle des connaisances fondée sur des objectifs philanthropiques. Jean-François Oberlin avait en effet aménagé un cabinet de curiosités ouvert aux visiteurs de passage au Ban-de-la-Roche. Après la mort de ce dernier, le cabinet est resté accessible au public. Les successeurs de J.-F. Oberlin ont continué à enrichir les collections mais le mot "musée" n'a été adopté qu'en 1958, après la constitution du premier comité de surveillance des collections du musée Oberlin, ancêtre de l'actuelle association du musée Oberlin.

Architecture - Musée jean-frédéric oberlin

le musée est installé dans la maison curiale construite selon les plans qu'en avait tracé Jean-François Oberlin. Cette construction a été financée par les barons de Dietrich (1787). Le musée fait actuellement l'objet d'un programme de développement. Les travaux sont prévus pour la période 1997-1999.
