Le château St Jean surplombe la vallée de l'Huisme. Cette vieille fortersse comprend un donjon du XIe, de plus de 30 m de haut, des contreforts, un mur et des tours d'enceinte du XII et début XIIIe. Le musée est installé dans Le Logis construit à la fin du XVe. Sully fait construire un pavillon adossé au rempart nord.
