Les collections qui réunissent un million d'insectes, 18 000 oiseaux, 60 000 invertébrés marins, des squelettes, des animeaux en alcool. permettent au musée de présenter de nombreux biotopes et régions du monde.. Parmi toutes ces espèces les plus remarquables sont les espèces disparues comme le grand pingouin par exemple, les modèles en verre soufflée ou encore les la curieuse collection d'albinos.
