Do you know this plant called bamboo? Despite the size it can grow up to, it is not a tree but a grass! Bamboo is as grass and as such, is an herb. But what a grass! If you want to deepen your knowledge on the subject or simply discover the bamboo, you must go to the bambouseraie d'Anduze. Located in the Gard department in a very conducive environment in terms of annual rainfall, this giant park contains one of the finest collections of bamboo in Europe.

Indeed, the bamboo comes in a variety of forms. First, the size of this plant is from the lawn bamboo to the giant bamboo reaching 25-30 meters high. Another feature, the stubble, the name given to the trunk of bamboo, can have a diameter ranging from 1 cm to over 30 cm and have colors ranging from golden yellow to green through black, purple, with vertical stripes and even spotted. The form of the stubble can also vary and be straight or zig-zag.

The bambouseraie of Prafrance has planted several hectares of bamboo, but also exotic plants such as palms and giant ferns.The park with the dragons, in the style of Japanese gardens, was developed and configured so that your visit is a delight. And it is! A river meanders between rocks or islands harboring beautiful plant and bonsai. The banks are lined with ancient trees such as gingko biloba (species that survived Hiroshima) or the beautiful Japanese maples.

During your visit, other parts of the bambouseraie will delight you including the gardens of aquatic plants that are home to magnificent wate lilies whose leaves are large pie pans. You can do this tour with a guide who will explain the history of bamboo or stroll to suit your needs in this beautiful park. At the exit you can purchase utensils made of bamboo from the bamboo Park in a store or buy bonsai trees and other plants you can plant at home in the tree nursery.
You may find any kind of forms of Bamboo and the park products so many of them that it provides the Basel Zoo to feed the pandas who live there.
