The small town of Goyave, located east of Basse-Terre, is the ideal place for holiday makers wishing to find nature. The city, which owes its name to many guava trees growing along its river, is ideally located along the bay of Petit Cul de Sac Marin, Guavas Little River, and is only 19 km from Pointe-à-Pitre.
History:
The small town was founded in 1684. At that time it was called St. Anne of the Guavas small river.
Guava has always been a farmland. It was also the place of many public executions of rebel slaves. This still gives it a certain authenticity today even though there are now some tourist sites such as the Moreau sault or of the Blonzac Water Garden.

Even though Goyave is not the ideal city for water activities in Guadeloupe, it has all the same a nice beach, Sainte Claire, which offers a few attractions.
The place is however known for its outdoor activities. Hiking lovers can enjoy a nice stroll to discover the Moreau sault. Of medium difficulty and 4-hour long, this trail leads you to the heart of the rainforest , while crossing the river several times. On the way, we discover the Mangle ravine waterfall and on arrival, it is possible to swim in the pool of the main waterfall. Provide comfortable shoes and clothes.
The Blonzac Water Garden is one of the nicest places of Goyave. Unique in Guadeloupe, this place, certified ecotourism by the National Park of Guadeloupe, offers many activities such as river swimming, canoeing, exploring the flora and various sporting activities.
