Tourist information:
Morne à l'Eau is a small city of Guadeloupe, located in Grande-Terre. It is known for its impressive cemetery all in black and white that looks like a giant checkerboard. In April, the great crab festival, which has become over the years a major event in life Guadeloupe, is held here.
From Morne à l'Eau, you can discover the beautiful hills of Grands Fonds which extend to Vieux-Bourg. Taking the N5 going north of Grande-Terre, then turning on the D109, there is a small hamlet, the Blancs Matignons haven where people live quietly, as usual on the island. The village is crossed by a unattractive brown channel, where fishing boats sail to supply the village with fish.
Visitors come to Morne à l'Eau for the Crab Festival or to visit its cemetery. The town is mainly a gateway to the cities of Vieux-Bourg and Petit-Canal.
