Tourist information:
Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe, is a small town on the south coast of Grande-Terre. The city extends from the inland to the sea and has a geographic location on the island very favorable to tourism as it is within 20 km of all the remarkable sites of Guadeloupe.
Dedicated to the Capuchins for many years, Sainte-Anne was in the seventeenth century the richest city of Guadeloupe, also the most populated, which made it the capital of the island. Its wealth came from many large cane sugar farms. This can still be seen through the ruins of windmills on its territory.
Now, Anne is dedicated to the sea and tourism. It offers visitors the most beautiful beaches in continental Guadeloupe, among them the center of the lagoon, shaded by coconut trees, the Caravelle that looks like a postcard or the Bois Jolan where trees outnumber swimmers!
You will find in Ste-Anne all the shops, restaurants and water sports rentals, etc.. Do not miss to discover the talent of the artists and craftsmen of Saint Anne through Gwo Ka and percussion festivals, and craft fairs held regularly. As you walk through the shopping streets, you will surely find some handcrafted souvenirs.
