This museum presents the habits and lifestyles Seine-and-marnais, while paying homage to the writer Pierre Mac Orlan who resided a long time in this village.



The Museum of the Countries of Seine-et-Marne has like ground of study the memory and the contemporary evolution of the east of the Ile-de-France. It presents a collection of objects of more than 3.000 parts, made up of agricultural implements or artisanal, which make it possible to recall the country history briarde and its traditions.



Agriculture, livestock, craft village, exploitation of raw materials or habitat areas are well described. This ethnographic collection also makes it possible to discover female caps collected in the 40’s by folklorists, who give an account of the “folk” investigation whose Brie was the object at that time.



The visit is supplemented by vidéos, selections of books and courses intended for the young public. An audio-visual space and an information center on the history and the ethnography of the east francilien are at the disposal of the visitors, without forgetting a garden, which presents the local traditional plants: varieties of wicker, pink of Layered branches, saponin, pastel, iris of the gardens, sorrel…



Pierre Dumarchey said Mac Orlan

In another field, the departmental museum present of many manuscripts and objects having belonged to the writer Pierre Mac Orlan, who lived and died in Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin. The room which is dedicated to him evokes the character that had created for itself Pierre Dumarchey, his artistic experiment, fighting then journalistic, and its presence in Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin. She testifies to the origins of her literary vocation and provides keys to include/understand her literary universe, qualified “the fantastic social one”. Lastly, it makes place with the song - for which Mac Orlan wrote many texts - with the illustration of its work and the artists which surrounded it and with which he worked.



To note finally that the Museum of the Countries of Seine-et-Marne accomodates temporary exhibitions on subjects concerning the history and the company of the east francilien, as well as exposures of contemporary art.
