Place de La Concorde Paris : Paris Tourism

Place de la Concorde 75008 Paris Stretching out along the Seine, the Place de La Concorde is considered to be the biggest square in Paris. It is the point which connects the Champs Elysées and the Jardins des Tuileries. In the middle of the 18th Century, the first king’s architect -Jacques Ange Gabriel- drew the octagonal square ornamented with a statue representing the king. As an ovation to the king, the square was called Place Louis XV. Place of history, it was here that public parties of the “Ancient Regime” were organised. It would later be a place of slaughter where the Guillotine executed nobles and revolutionaries. The square hasn’t changed since its birth. The statue of Louis XV was replaced by the obelisque which Louxor Mohamed Ali,King of Egypt gave to Louis-Philippe. Hirtoff, the architect, ornamented the square and its obelisque with 2 fountains and columns.
