The most famous boulevard of the city owes its name to the hemp (canebe in provincial language) which was one of the city`s main resources used for rope making.
Hotels, cafes, and shops flourish all along this avenue, which is at least as famous as the Champs-Elysées. Starting from the old pier, you will come through to the “Palais de la Bourse” which shelters the Museum of the Navy and Deep Sea.
You will appreciate the varied exhibitions present in the city: the “santon”market, the garlic market as well as the sport and syndicate events will please every taste.
